United Nations Children’s Fund

The United Nations Children’s Fund, originally called the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), is an agency of the United Nations primarily responsible for providing developmental and humanitarian assistance to children internationally. UNICEF played a key role in shaping the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The agency is among the most prevalent welfare organizations in the world, present in 192 counties and territories. UNICEF’s recent activities include preventing diseases through immunizations, improving childhood nutrition, supporting sanitation efforts, and providing relief in the event of disasters.
